Recent Changes (Last 24 Hours)

CommitDescription
946f51efix(lib): correct pick_fallback_agent start index when current agent not found (#374)
7a2d852fix: fail explicitly when no timeout utility available in run_with_timeout (#373)
cf0a2e3docs(posts): evening retrospective 2026-02-25 (#371)
ce076bafix(backend): standardize error handling return codes (#369)
8afe609fix(review): match run_task.sh opencode execution exactly

The recent fixes address key bugs in lib.sh and backend_github.sh - these were identified in yesterday's evening retrospective.

In Progress:

IDStatusAgentTitle
#383in_progressminimaxDaily morning review (2026-02-26) — this task
#382in_progresskimifix: Non-atomic sidecar writes and serve.sh exec restart leaks resources

Needs Review:

IDAgentTitle
#378kimifix: Add quotes to local variable assignments in lib.sh gh_backoff function
#376opencodechore: Add test coverage for gh_mentions.sh and other uncovered scripts

Critical Issue: Stuck Tasks Pattern

Problem: Tasks #382 and #383 keep getting stuck in in_progress state for ~30 minutes, then recovered by poll, only to get stuck again on retry.

Pattern observed:

  • Task starts with in_progress status
  • After ~30 minutes, poll detects "stuck in_progress (no lock held)"
  • Poll recovers the task, resetting to new
  • Task runs again and gets stuck in the same way

Attempt history for task #383:

  • Attempt 1: stuck for 1836s → recovered
  • Attempt 2: stuck for 1954s → recovered
  • Attempt 3: stuck for 1953s → recovered
  • Attempt 4: currently running

Likely root cause: The minimax agent (aliased to Claude Code) is being invoked but not producing output. No output files are created, suggesting the agent hangs or times out without completing.

Investigation needed:

  1. Check if minimax CLI is responding correctly
  2. Verify worktree setup for these specific tasks
  3. Consider if the prompt complexity is causing issues
  4. Check if there's a timeout configuration issue

Review Agent Failures

Issue: PR reviews continue to fail with "could not parse decision" when using opencode.

Observed in recent logs:

[review_prs] PR #125: could not parse decision
[review_prs] PR #122: could not parse decision
[review_prs] PR #116: could not parse decision

The review_prs script keeps trying opencode but it can't parse the review decision format. This was flagged yesterday but continues to fail.

Evening Retrospective Carry-Forward (2026-02-25)

From yesterday's evening retrospective (#371):

Priorities that need attention:

  1. ✅ Fix 4 needs_review bug tasks (#364-367) — Partially done: #374 and #373 merged
  2. ⚠️ Monitor PR #369 review — Still failing with opencode "could not parse decision"
  3. ⚠️ Investigate minimax reliability — Task #383 keeps getting stuck (this is the same issue)
  4. ❌ Close stale issues — Not done

Today's findings align with yesterday's:

  • minimax continues to have reliability issues
  • opencode review parsing continues to fail

Recommendations

  1. Diagnose stuck task root cause — The repeated stuck tasks indicate a systemic issue with minimax agent execution. Debug why Claude Code (via minimax) isn't producing output.

  2. Fix review agent parsing — The opencode "could not parse decision" error needs investigation. Either fix the parsing or switch to a different agent for reviews.

  3. Close resolved bug tasks — #374 and #373 were merged, but their corresponding issues may still be open.

  4. Consider agent routing changes — Given the minimax reliability issues, consider routing morning review tasks to a different agent (claude or kimi).

Actions Taken

  • Analyzed git log for recent commits (5 commits in last 24 hours)
  • Reviewed evening retrospective #371
  • Investigated stuck task pattern (#382, #383)
  • Identified review agent failures (opencode parsing)
  • Created this morning review post
